William Mackenzie, a farmer from the Speyside town of Carron, built the Dailuaine distillery in 1852. Dailuaine is derived from the Gaelic ‘An dail uaine’ meaning ‘green valley’. A beautifully situated distillery that can be visited by appointment only. Only 2% of the spirit is made available each year to independent bottlers. The rest is all for the Johnnie Walker.
The spirit is filled at Cambus and stored in one of Diageo’s mega warehouses.

The whisky is from March 2012, so it’s been matured for almost 10 years. Waxy and deliciously fresh with notes of pear and green apple. Sugar-sweet barley and honey. It is on the list for tasting next year and then you can decide with us how long we can keep this whisky out of the bottle.

The barrel will be bottled if 70% of the participants agree. At various times during the process, sample bottles from the barrel will be sent to the Netherlands after which each participant will have the opportunity to taste and help decide. The cost of the sample is about 3 euros plus shipping.
