A little history
The site was originally home to a gristmill, established by AG Johnstone as Strathisla Mills in 1823, but following a boom in the whisky industry between 1890 and 1899 it was converted to a distillery in 1891. Some of the buildings therefore date back to its whisky-making days. It was during this era of great demand that some thirty other distilleries were built in the area.
It was in 1895 when gin producers W. & A. Gilbey bought the distillery that the name was changed from Glenisla-Glenlivet to the present-day name Strathmill, the name derived from the Gaelic word ‘Strath’ meaning ‘shallow valley’ and ‘mill’ with reference to its former use.
Five traditional warehouses and 1.8 million litres of alcohol per year, which is mainly destined for the J&B blend of Diaego.
The whisky is already 11 years old and tasted by our supplier. We agreed on this because of the Brexit perils.

The barrel will be bottled if 70% of the participants agree. During the process, sample bottles from the barrel are sent to the Netherlands every few times, after which every participant has the opportunity to taste and decide. The cost of the sample is about 3 euros plus shipping.
